Home heating and cooling

Repairs, replacements and duct work for houses in Grand Prairie, Arlington, Mansfield and Cedar Hill.

Repairs

Tested, then priced

Capacitors, contactors, blocked condensate lines with the float switch tripped, low charge from a slow leak, ignition components and blower motors. That is most of what fails in a North Texas house, and each one has a test.

You get the fault, the price in writing, and a note of anything else on the system that is close behind it.

Summer

Four things that decide an August afternoon

  • The condenser coilDust and cottonwood blind it in weeks. A gentle rinse from the inside out, with the power off, is the most useful thing a homeowner can do.
  • Airflow indoorsA loaded filter or an undersized return costs more degrees than most people expect.
  • Attic ductsAn attic here runs far above the outdoor temperature. Every leak up there is cooling you paid for.
  • SizingOversized equipment short-cycles, leaves the house humid and wears itself out earlier. It is worth getting right at replacement.

Replacement

What a quote should tell you

What was measured, what happens to the ducts, which refrigerant the new equipment uses, and what is excluded — electrical work, permits, drywall and anything found once panels come off.

We will also tell you when replacement is not the answer yet. A system with years left in it does not become a bad system because it needed a repair.

The short list

  • FiltersLook monthly through the summer. The filter tells you its own interval better than the box does.
  • The outdoor unitTwo feet clear all round, and nothing stacked against it.
  • The drainWatch for water around the indoor unit from June onwards. Switch cooling off if you find any.
  • Note changesA new noise, a longer run time, a breaker that tripped once — all of it shortens the diagnosis.
